When did a urinal become art? Why is a shark in formaldehyde considered by some to be a masterpiece? What is the state of art today?

This FREE taster lecture provides an introduction to explore modern and contemporary art. Starting with the birth of conceptual art in the early 20th century, guests will be guided through the art movements of the past 120 years.

The lecture will look at artist Grayson Perry as well as critics and major influencers including global history and politics that have shaped the face of art today.

In partnership with NADFAS, join former British Museum curator Anna Harnden for an evening of discussion and insight into the Contemporary Visual Art world.  The talk will reference the work of Grayson Perry.

The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) is a leading arts charity which opens up the world of the arts through a network of local Societies and national events.

With inspiring monthly lectures given by some of the country's top experts, together with days of special interest, educational visits and cultural holidays, NADFAS is a great way to learn, have fun and make new and lasting friendships.
