Wikipedia defines data as “any sequence of one or more symbols given meaning by specific act of interpretation”.

Let us think for a moment that today a photograph is only a photograph because a computer says it is – it could just as easily be a sound, video or 3D model if the file were decoded that way. How the decoding is handled therefore determines what the data contains.

So, if data is an interpretation of patterns, what does data hidden around Warrington tell us? 

By exploring, searching for the over-looked or obvious, taking note of what is hidden in plain view, patterns reveal themselves. These patterns can be interpreted in a variety of ways, allowing data to be extracted from them and in turn artworks.
