London based Scot Eric Maclennan describes himself as a ‘theatre maker’, and the title is fitting, considering his unique style of performance and diverse roles as an actor, director and teacher. Maclennan is a Theatre graduate of the University of Warwick, who also trained at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and he has over 28 years of experience in theatre and film in the UK and abroad.
During his career, he has worked in collaboration with TAG Theatre Glasgow, Manchester Royal Exchange, Bristol Old Vic, Station House Opera and the National Theatre of Scotland and his teaching experience includes University of Kent at Canterbury, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Central School of Speech and Drama. More recently he has won a Creative Residency at the new Birmingham Library and even made an appearance in the 2012 film adaptation of ‘Anna Karenina’.
A specialist in site-specific performance and promenade theatre, MacLennan aims to make his work accessible to the public, whilst still being challenging and engaging. His performance at this year’s festival ‘A Journey To The Centre Of Your Heart’ is no different; MacLennan’s experimental piece is based around looking at the mundane in an extraordinary manner.
